形態特徵

• Aquatic herb with short rhizomes.
• Leaves elliptic or orbicular, 20-130 cm in diameter, green and rather rugose above, purple beneath, veins elevated beneath.
• Flowers emergent, 3-5 cm across; sepals 4, lanceolate, persistent, green outside, reddish-purple inside; petals many, reddish-purple, lanceolate-elliptic, 1.5-2 cm long; stamens numerous.
• Fruit a berry, prickly, globose, 3-8 cm across, with persistent sepals; seeds spheroid, 6-8 mm in diameter, black.

分布

• 台灣 : Probably introduced, in the central and the northern parts of the island.
